Under the infrastructure review, projects already under construction and Labor election commitments at the 2022 poll will escape scrutiny.

Examination of the federal Infrastructure Department’s website suggests the repaving of the Newell Highway in western NSW ($264 million), Shepparton bypass in northern Victoria ($208 million) and Warrego highway upgrades in western Queensland ($375.6 million) are on the chopping block.

Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Vida has broken through near the entrance to the West Gate Freeway, which marks the completion of excavation for the project’s 2.8-kilometre eastbound tunnel.

The cofferdam is empty!!

Project Announcements 🔊

The Coomera Connector (Second M1) is Queensland’s biggest single road project and has been awarded to a JV between Acciona and Georgiou Group. The $425m package from the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is the first of 3, totalling $2.16b 💰💰💰

Major construction is underway on the 16-kilometre Stage 1, creating a ‘second M1’ to remove up to 60,000 local trips a day from the M1 Pacific Motorway, south of Brisbane.

Coomera Connector Stage 1

ACE Energy comprising ACCIONA, Cobra and Endeavour Energy has been nominated as the preferred bidder to deliver the Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) in Central-West Orana. A 20,000 square kilometre area around Dubbo and Dunedoo that’s aiming to supply 3 gigawatts in new network capacity to replace coal-fired power generation.

The consortium beat a rival group which included APA Group, Macquarie Capital, UGL and CIMIC. The project is expected to be completed in July 2027 for a total of $650million.

The Australian Government has committed $268.8 million, and the NSW Government has committed $182.8 million to the project.

The Muswellbrook Bypass project aims to address existing problems through the development of a bypass of Muswellbrook to the east of the town and Skellatar Hill, starting near Milpera Drive and re-joining the New England Highway north of Sandy Creek Road.

Brookfield Properties and Cbus Property announced Multiplex to construct the $500m, 19-storey office building in Elizabeth Quay.

It will feature over 4,800 sqm of on-site co-working and conferencing facilities with views across the Swan River. It will be called home by Mulitplex, Hub Australia and EY on completed.

The Nine is targeting a 6 Star Green Star rating and a 5.5 NABERS energy rating.
